Hiroshima & Nagasaki Peace Work

The risk of nuclear war, accidents, illness, and prospects of annihilation have been with our society since the United States set off the first atomic bomb August 6, 1945 over Hiroshima Japan. The Year 2020 will mark the 75th Anniversary of the Hiroshima & Nagasaki Bombing. The Wholistic Peace Institute and Hiroshima’s Ground Zero Museum have become partners in bringing this important exhibit, “Never Again”, to schools and universities in throughout Oregon. On occasions with the exhibit, the WPI has been honored by a lecture from Mr. Ed Kawasaki, a Hiroshima Atom Bomb Survivor. The Atomic Bomb exploded within 1.5 kilometers from where he was on August 6, 1945 in Hiroshima, Japan. The exhibit is available for rent and portable so that colleges and schools or community centers can have the provocative posters and DVD videos showing actual footage in both Nagasaki and Hiroshima after the bombing and the medical treatment and post – war effects. This is a tremendously moving exhibit directly from the Ground Zero Museum that is only offered by the Wholistic Peace Institute. The proliferation of nuclear weapons in the world today is one of the most dangerous situations ever faced by humanity. Gary Spanovich, Executive Director of the Institute has said: “War is not the way to solve international conflict; and the use of nuclear weapons should never be used to win a war. The existence of Nuclear Weapons by humanity is like a five year old child playing with matches in a room full of open gasoline cans. The child does not understand the danger of the situation.” Experts have said, “If the ten most powerful nuclear bombs were to go off, life on Earth would end!”
