Gary Alan Spanovich, Executive Director of the Wholistic Peace Institute traveled to the Manila, Philippines in December 2009 to participate in an inter-religious dialogue on world peace and to discuss the insurgency and terrorist activities in Mindanao. Below is the panel which he participated on and panel members included a general and a judge. Gary made plans to work with Xavier University in Mindanao on a Nobel Peace Laureate conference and that conference is in the planning phase right now.

On behalf of the International Host Committee, we would like to cordially invite you to participate in the Global Peace Convention, which will be convened from December 10-14, 2009, in Manila, Philippines with a focus on the theme: “Peacebuilding for the 21st Century: Interfaith, Service and Family”.
The Convention will bring together leading voices from around the world including cutting edge service and interfaith leaders, social entrepreneurs, government and the private sector. On the foundation of Global Peace Festivals on every Continent last year, this world class convening of prominent peacebuilding figures will address themes of service, interfaith conflict resolution, and family strengthening.
The Global Peace Convention will also support promising regional efforts such as the Mindinao Peace Initiative which is convening Muslim, Christian and other leaders to help bring peace to this area of conflict, as well as other initiatives in hot spots from Kenya to the Middle East. In this way, the Convention will contribute directly to the urgent peacebuilding work that needs to be carried out, not only through dynamic leaders in the Philippines, but also through service delegations coming to the Convention from around the world who are building a global service alliance.
